Le groupe de folk-pop anglais Noah and the Whale fait un début timide avec « 5 Years Time » à l'automne 2007. Réédité un an après il est n°7 des charts dans la foulée de l'album Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down (2008). En 2009 sort The First Days of Spring. Noah and the Whale se forme dans la grande banlieue de Londres, à Twickenham, en 2006. Tirant son nom du film The Squid and the Whale réalisé par Noah Baumbach en 2005, il comprend Charlie Fink (guitare, ukulélé et chant), Tom Hobden (violon), Urby (harmonium), Doug Fink (batterie) et la chanteuse  ...
