De retour d'une tournée en première partie de The Offspring, à l'époque au sommet avec son album Smash (1994), Rancid livre ...And Out Come the Wolves, son troisième opus pour le compte du label Epitaph Records. Le punk revenant en grâce aux Etats-Unis, les clips du groupe sont matraqués sur MTV et font de ce disque l'album le plus vendu de la carrière de Rancid. Tirant ses influences des groupes punk (parfois ska punk) britanniques The Clash et The Specials, les Californiens incorporent à leurs chansons au format 2'30'' une certaine vibration pop qui font de « Roots Radicals », « Time Bomb », « Ruby Soho » ou encore « Journey to the End of East Bay » des classiques du genre pop punk....
