Le groupe folk The Swell Season est le fruit de la rencontre de Glen Hansard, ancien guitariste et chanteur de The Frames, et de la chanteuse tchèque Markéta Irglová. Récompensé par un Academy Award pour la chanson « Falling Slowly », le duo connaît un véritable engouement public avec la bande originale de Once (2007) et l'album Strict Joy (2009).
